"Stay at Home Mom"

A few years ago I participated in a panel discussion concerning being a "Stay at Home Mom." As I understood it, there were some young ladies in the church who wanted to know what it was like to be one, some having not seen an example of it themselves. Some even provided us with specific questions beforehand.

I felt the discussion was profitable, and from what I've heard the younger ladies there thought so also. But I did regret that we didn't have time to get to many of the questions that they had wondered about beforehand. At the time I thought, well, I could post about this sometime perhaps.... but here it is around the same time of year for what -- the fourth time?!

I would still like to share my notes on this subject, probably with some additions as I go back through, in case it could be of benefit to anyone. So I'm going to start doing that -- slowly, as my time to spend in this endeavor will be limited. And bear in mind that the notes were meant for a discussion, so don't hesitate to comment. I certainly know other stay at home moms with far more experience than I have. In fact, that is something that has made me hesitate. I am certainly no expert and don't wish to appear as one. But it does occur to me that there are so many in opposition to the stay at home mom out there -- either in word or in deed or in both -- that all this information just sitting here on my computer seems a shame if it could do even a little something to help even one.

Look for posts related to this in the coming weeks. I will plan to organize them under the "Homemaking" tab above, under "Stay at Home Mom."

Update 5/7/11:  I changed the "Homemaking" tab to simply "SAHM" because there isn't anything else under it at this point.  This series has been much delayed, for which I apologize, and I'm hoping to continue it gradually.

This post is part of a series about the "Stay at Home Mom" (SAHM). If you'd like to read more, go here.

  1. ooooooh, I can't wait! :) Your site looks a little nutso right now, but I'll check back! ;) Good for you for having the ambition to do the 'menu thing'. It sounds overwhelming to me!

  2. I'll be looking forward to it as well. If nothing else, I always like to see how other stay at home moms operate. I get good ideas from other people all the time!
